Residents of Nsukka lament constant hike in the price of Cooking Gas

Residents of Nsukka metropolis have continued to expressed their worry over the constant increase in the price of cooking gas.

They made their feelings known while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the recent hike in price of cooking gas in the area.

Cooking gas also known as liquefied Petroleum gas is gradually shifting as an everyday necessity to a luxury as retail prices have risen sharply.

Investigations revealed that some refilling stations sell cooking gas for two thousand per kg while some sell for one thousand eight hundred naira per kg.

In an interview with a manager in one of the refilling stations in Enugu road Nsukka Mr Emmanuel Ezugwu said the sudden increase in cooking gas was as a result of the ongoing war in Iran.

Speaking with some Consumers in Nsukka they lamented that the continuous increase is forcing households to cut down gas usage.

According to them they are forced to use firewood and charcoal as their alternative.

Also an employee along Timber road Nsukka lamented how the sudden increase has affected his budget as according to him those who live in flats cannot resort to firewood or charcoal because of the setting of the house and landlord restrictions.

They called on government to consider the plight of the poor masses by reducing the price of cooking gas.

According to them, cooking Gas which was once promoted as an affordable alternative energy source is steadily moving beyond the reach of average Nigerians
