Rangers beat Enyimba, top NPFL table with 59 points

Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, yesterday Sunday beat visiting Enyimba FC of Aba by two goals to one in the Week 35 game decided at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The game was a behind closed door because Rangers is suffering from penalty of rowdy game with Barau United.
Though Rangers carried the day, Enyimba first opened scores by netting in the first goal on the 14th minute of the second half.
Rangers who had been fighting hard to scores goal, equalised on the 25th minute through defender Chidozie Iwundu, Jersey No. 23.
Two minutes later, on the 27th minute, another defender, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi scored the second and the winning goal.
The winning has thus placed Rangers on top of the league table with 59 points and now the leader, thereby pushing Rivers United of Port Harcourt who are on 58 points.
Rangers came charging to win the game but what seemed like an antics from Enyimba hindered their progress as they kept falling on the pitch. Worst, still, the goal keeper would roll as if he was seriously wounded.
Infuriated, the centre referee penalised the goal keeper with a yellow card but that did not stop him from delaying the match with his antics.
Enyimba boys only rose up to the game when Rangers scored the second and the winning goal.
In a post match press briefing, Enyimba coach, Emma Deutish said he hadn’t much to say other that Rangers won the game.
He said however that his players played a good game but lost.
On his part, Rangers Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu said they were prepared to win, pointing out that Enyimba intended to rout his team but they rallied round and finished tops.
