The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has restated the commitment of the state government to promoting exclusive breastfeeding as a core component of its maternal and child health policy.
She stated this in a message to mark Breastfeeding Week , describing quality breastfeeding as one of the most powerful means of giving every child the healthiest possible start in life.
Mrs Soludo noted that breastfeeding promotes healthy growth, strengthens immunity and fosters a lasting bond between mother and child.
She therefore urged expectant and nursing mothers across Anambra State to practise exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life in accordance with the recommendations of health experts, stressing that no water, herbal mixtures or other foods are required during this critical period.
Mrs Soludo expressed the resolve of the present administration to build an Anambra where every mother is empowered to breastfeed with confidence and every child is given the opportunity to thrive from the very beginning.
