‎‎The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, JONAPWD Enugu State Chapter, has declared full mobilization of the disability community across the 17 Local Government Areas to defend the Enugu State Persons with Disabilities Commission.

‎
‎This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its 2nd Executive Committee Meeting for 2026 held over the weekend in Enugu.

‎JONAPWD said the Commission, established by Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in November 2025, was created to serve as the institutional voice for over 200,000 Persons with Disabilities in Enugu State and to guarantee their rights, welfare, empowerment and inclusion.
‎
‎According to release Signed by
‎Chinedu Meshack Adibe, Publicity Secretary, ‎JONAPWD Enugu State Chapter, the Association expressed concern that the progress of the Commission is being threatened by internal power struggles and acts of insubordination.
‎
‎Arising from the meeting, JONAPWD resolved as follows:
‎
‎1. It condemned in strong terms any act of usurpation of authority or unilateral actions that undermine the Governing Board and the law establishing the Commission.
‎2. It declared full mobilization of Persons with Disabilities across the 17 LGAs to defend the sanctity and operations of the Commission if those fueling the crisis fail to retrace their steps.
‎3. It called on individuals or groups within and outside government sponsoring the power tussle to withdraw immediately, warning that the disability community will not watch selfish interests destroy its only institution.
‎4. It appealed to Governor Peter Mbah and other critical stakeholders to urgently intervene, provide clear operational guidelines, and restore discipline, accountability, and coordination in the Commission.
‎
‎JONAPWD stated that the mandate of the Commission is sacred and greater than any individual. It added that the community will not allow administrative confusion, ego, or power play to derail the purpose for which the Commission was established.
‎
‎The Association emphasized that the focus should be on Accessibility, Employment, Empowerment, Healthcare, Education, Social Protection, Rehabilitation, and Dignity for Persons with Disabilities.
‎
The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the administration of Governor Mbah and to the vision of an inclusive Enugu State where No One Is Left Behind.
