The project for the installation of 20kw solid state FM radio station (Voice FM) at Ikeagwu Village in Nsukka, Enugu state for the Federal Radio corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Enugu was done in the middle of 2011. This was preceded by a few minutes test transmission which did not last the whole day because of unavailability of earthing system and air conditioners for cooling of the equipment.
The architectural, civil and structural engineering aspect of the project have already been completed before the installation of the FM radio broadcasting equipments. This whole project was attracted by the then Senator representing Enugu North senatorial district, Late Hon Ayogu Eze as the constituency project which he was the Chairman Senate committee on information. No further test transmission was carried out in Voice FM until towards April 2014 when a team of engineers from FRCN Enugu came to carry out maintance on the equipments and also carry out test transmission because the station was about to start full operation.
On June 14th 2024, Voice FM started operation which the then Deputy Director Engineering Services FRCN Enugu, Late Engr Jonas Emechebe lead the management of FRCN Enugu to Voice FM Nsukka (a.k.a The eagle on the hill) to flag it off, which Late Mr Chibueze Alumona was appointed as the first General Manager of Voice FM Nsukka. Mr Chibueze was transferred to Enugu zonal station after some years. Hon Aka Eze Aka took over the mantle of leadership and became the
General Manager of Voice FM Nsukka. After he was appointment as the Honorable Commissioner of Information Enugu state, he left for secondment, Mr Eric Ilechukwu was overseeing the station as the Head it the station untill he was transferred to Enugu zonal station. Mrs Chinyere Obi became the substantive General Manager of Voice FM Nsukka on August 1st 2025. She is the current General Manager of Voice FM Nsukka, the eagle on the hill.
